About the Position:
Do you have lived experience as a caregiver supporting a child through mental health, behavioral health, or substance use challenges? Oregon Community Programs (OCP) is looking for a safe, welcoming individual to join our team as a Family Support Specialist (FSS).
This is a part-time hourly position (minimum of 10 hours per week, with potential for additional hours depending on growing program needs).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have certification as Family Support Specialist or obtain it within 90 days of hire
- Candidates who are not already certified must be able to attend in-person training in Roseburg: Monday, July 13th– Friday, July 17th 8:30am-4:30pm. Enrolment fee, time, and mileage will be covered.
- Lived experience as the primary caregiver for a child with mental health, behavioral health, or substance abuse challenges and firsthand experience helping them navigate services and systems of care.
- Able to provide a safe, welcoming, and supportive culture for caregivers from all walks of life, receiving services at the community level.
- Comfortable working in the community and in client homes as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation.
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Certified as a Family Support Specialist, Traditional Health Worker through Oregon Health Authority.
- We strongly encourage candidates with applicable lived experience to apply, even if they do not currently hold a Family Support Specialist certification.
- Experience using a strengths-based approach.
- Strong communication skills and ability to apply feedback.
- Able to maintain accurate records and documentation.
Primary responsibilities of this position:
- Assist caregivers in the navigation of services and systems of care for youth experiencing mental health, behavioral health, or substance use challenges.
- Collaborate with the clinical team to improve community engagement for youth, young adults, and caregivers/families.
- Assess the needs and strengths of the families and identify areas for growth and development.
- Collect outcome and assessment data from caregivers and youth; complete and maintain records and documentation for clinical-based work.
- Model, coach, and help practice a variety of coping skills for wellness and treatment.
- Participate in weekly team clinical meetings, supervision, and additional trainings or meetings as requested.
- Participate in Oregon Health Authority (OHA) IIBHT training and other continuing education opportunities as assigned by the supervisor.
