OCP is a community-based behavioral health agency providing mental and behavioral health therapies for children and youth and their parents/caregivers, including some currently in foster care. All childcare takes place onsite at OCP and is provided only when the parent or caregiver is also onsite.
About the Position:
This is a part time/hourly position: approximately 10-15 hours per week primarily on Mondays and Fridays (between 8:45am and 6:15pm on Mondays, but only until 5:30 on Fridays). Additional hours on Thursdays may be possible.
- Base compensation: $19.84 per hour (may be higher depending on pay equity differentials)
- 6-month review: performance-based increase up to 3%
Play with children in designated childcare spaces at OCP containing toys and simple activities, snacks provided and supervise/monitor their safety. We train you in trauma-informed responsiveness that reflects the evidence-based models used at OCP.
Children’s ages range from 0-12 years old, including infants, babies and toddlers. The typical length of one play session is 1-2 hours. Some play sessions involve one or two children; some may involve up to five children. Responsibilities do not include changing diapers (you would alert the caregiver to do that).
When there is down-time between childcare sessions, this person will provide office support as needed. This would include backup coverage for reception, maintaining office and kitchen inventories; stocking supplies; monthly kitchen maintenance, organizing toys and supplies for therapy sessions, and simple paperwork tasks.
Job Duties:
- Create a warm and welcoming place where children want to spend time and where parents/caregivers feel confident leaving their children while they are receiving services.
- This is an interactive role, not a daycare or babysitting position. It includes playing with or alongside the children around the room, on the floor, or at the table, and rocking or walking babies and infants.
- Demonstrate understanding across developmental stages for infants, babies, and children. Remain calm in potentially stressful circumstances and respond neutrally when a child acts out.
- Set up and clean up childcare space after each childcare session. Clean toys as needed with spray cleaner and weekly in the dishwasher.
- Office support as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must have prior childcare experience and especially be comfortable with infants and babies.
- Comfortable accepting and implementing feedback, coaching, and supervision.
- Possess basic computer competency in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable learning other software needed to perform reception backup responsibilities.
- Pass criminal background check.
- Must be dependable, reliable, and punctual.
- Have reliable vehicle and sufficient insurance.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Comfortable getting up and down from the floor.
- Ability to lift 25lbs.
- Ability to sit, squat, and stand for at least 15 minutes at a time.

- Receive 1 hour of protected sick time for every 30 hours you work, up to 40 hours of sick time per year. You can start taking sick time after you’ve worked for your employer for 90 days (about 3 months).
